CARO - Catena Zapata & Rothschild 2021

Description

The color of the wine is a deep red with hints of purple.
The aroma is complex, with notes of red fruits, figs and blueberries, as well as hints of finely roasted coffee. Spices and dried fruits are also perceived, evoking barrel aging.
In the mouth, the wine is dense and complex, with fine tannins and refreshing acidity, presenting good balance. The persistent finesse of the tannins provides good longevity and a pleasant, smooth mouthfeel.

This wine will reveal all its complexity after aging in the bottle.

CARO , for CAtena and ROthschild, presents an Argentine identity carried by Malbec and an elegance and complexity due to its association with Cabernet Sauvignon.
The synthesis produces a voluptuous and refined wine, which harmoniously balances Argentine identity and burgundy style.

The idea of a partnership between the Rothschild and Catena families was born in 1999. The Catena family has been producing wines for four generations.
Their extensive knowledge of Mendoza's high altitude terroirs places them among the most renowned Malbec producers in Argentina.
By bringing together the incomparable experience of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite in the production of a great Cabernet Sauvignon, their aim is to develop a wine that combines French and Argentine cultures and the two grape varieties characteristic of each family.

Situated at the foot of the snowy peaks of the Andes, the Mendoza region is known as the best wine region in Argentina.
Planted on plateaus between 800 and 1200 m, Mendoza's vineyards are among the highest in the world.
Protected from the rains in the west by the mountains and from the Pampas in the east, it is a very arid region.
The wines of Mendoza owe their character to the exceptional sun enjoyed by the vineyards and the wide temperature ranges between day and night.

terroir
CARO's vineyard extends over 8 hectares of land in Altamira, in the Uco Valley, south of Mendoza.
The vines are planted at an altitude of 1000 m, in the old alluvial bed of the Tunuyán River.
