Château ODILON Red Haut-Médoc 2018

Description

With a deep garnet color, this wine has aromas of black fruits, licorice wood and fine notes of orange blossom.
When airy, the aromas of roasting and vanilla reinforce the complexity of the nose. The attack is frank, animated.
The balance is marked by tension coated by soft tannins.
Despite its youth, this wine presents itself remarkably and its length suggests good aging potential.

Formerly called Château Peyre-Lebade due to its geographical location, the property was renamed Château Odilon, in honor of the painter Odilon Redon who spent his childhood and most of his professional life there. For many of his best-known paintings, the painter was inspired by the bucolic landscapes of the Médoc, a region dotted with heaths and swamps.

Château Odilon is located in the Listrac-Médoc appellation, inland, in the center of the limestone plateau and away from the Gironde estuary.
The property thus enjoys a well-protected situation.

Terroir
The property's clayey and limestone soil offers remarkable resistance to drought. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean confers a freshness that is reflected in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. This terroir is very favorable to the cultivation of the Merlot variety, in a region where Cabernet Sauvignon is traditionally king.
Château Odilon therefore has a completely original Médoc character.
