CHÂTEAU D’AUSSIÈRES Rouge 2017 - Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite

Description

A really good example of warm, ripe fruit from the south of France, showing good oak interplay, lots of red fruit and chocolate character.

No rusticity here. Generous and very appealing style.
Dark cherry notes and a floral touch at the end.

Drink between 2021 to 2035.

Since his first visit in 1999, Eric de Rothschild has fallen in love with Aussières, a place of wild beauty with an extraordinary soul and history.

The 170 hectares at the heart of the estate have been devoted to vine cultivation for most of the last two millennia.

Thanks to remarkable work and significant investments in vineyards and cellars, Aussières is today one of the leading estates of the Languedoc renaissance.

The property is situated in the rugged hills, set back from the Mediterranean coast in Narbonne, in the south of France.

Terroir
The grapes used at Château d'Aussières come from selected plots located at the top of the slopes.

In this part of the vineyard, the soils are very shallow and consist of sandy, weakly clayey and dry sandstone.
As a result, yields on these plots are very low.

This wine is mainly a blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre, to which some Grenache and Carignan are blended.

The Mourvèdre vines, already mature, produce grapes of great quality.

Green harvests associated with a meticulous choice of grapes aim to obtain a potent wine with great precision.
